    Greetings Mustangs,

Snow and winter season are upon us as is the start of quarter two.  The new quarter saw each of our students starting three new classes today. I trust that students were able to meet their teachers and work together to fulfill our mission to Inspire Students, Excel Academically, and Strengthen Community.

Our Bell Schedule is the same for quarter two and students attending ASD in School will be Zooming with their teachers Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesday being an asynchronous learning day. Students in ASD Virtual will be hearing from their teachers in the next few days to begin their coursework in APEX and/or E-Dynamics.

    Quarter One Grades

Quarter One grades will be posted in Q Parent Connect by the end of the week. Teachers and students were given an extension to post grades due to some technical issues with communication between Canvas and Q. An opportunity for Extended Year sessions will be available in the coming weeks for students who may need to look at credit recovery options.

    Parent/Teacher Conferences:

This year the Parent/Teacher Conferences will look much different than ever before.  Instead of individual conferences, teachers will be holding “Open House” type presentations/meetings for each class period. You will be meeting with your student’s NEW teachers, not their teachers from quarter one.  Meetings will be this Wednesday evening, October 21st from 6-7:30pm. Teachers will send class Zoom invites for their subjects, please look for those invites Tuesday.  Feel free to revisit teacher videos from the start of the year to get to know your teachers a little better. Link to videos can be found here.

We will be having our normal asynchronous school on Wednesday October 21st and regular online classes on Thursday October 22nd.  There will be NO school for students on October 23rd. Please see the schedule HERE.

    ATTENTION ALL AP Students:

Taking the Advanced Placement exam is an important part of all AP courses. Chugiak High School encourages all students to take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often allow students to earn college credit for their high school class, potentially saving money on tuition.

The College Board, which administers the AP program, has significantly changed the AP registration process.  AP exam registration and payments must be made by October 30.

There is no fee to cancel a test this year and you will have up until the day of the test to decide if you want to take the test or initiate a refund.  There is, however, a $40 late fee for tests ordered after the deadline.

Please go HERE for more CHS info and to sign up.

    Quarter 2 Schedules:

Quarter 2 schedules are now viewable in Q Student and Parent Connect.

If students would like to request a change to their Quarter 2 schedule, please visit our CHS Homepage and fill out the Schedule Change Request Form. Change requests will be accepted until Friday, October 23rd.
