Update for May 6, 2019
It's been a busy and exciting year as we begin to wrap up the first year as a full-fledged high school. Our first-ever prom was held last weekend. It was well attended, everyone had fun, and many students noted it was the best prom they ever attended
The AdvancEd accreditation team wrapped up their work this week. The process went well and we are proud to announce that King Tech will be granting diplomas as an accredited institution. This was a big task for us this year, and it feels good to have that completed.
Friday, May 3, was our annual Signing Event. Eight of our finest students were admitted to unions and other organizations for paid apprenticeships. This is one event we are particularly proud of because students enter the trades with an apprenticeship. We want to thank the participating industries for supporting our students: Able Body Shop, Carpenter's Local 1281, Chaz Unlimited, Iron Workers Local l751, NC Machinery and NECA Alaska/IBEW Local 1547.
We are just about two weeks away from the first-ever graduation of King Tech High School students. There are 104 students in the inaugural class. All staff and students will be released from school for a half-day, and the ceremony will take place at 11:30 at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the UAA campus.
Senior Final Exam Schedule: AM all day May 8th and PM all day May 9th.
The Junior Final Exam Schedule: May 21st PM and May 22nd AM
The last day of school for students is May 22, and we will return to class on August 20. The lottery remains open through the summer for those juniors and seniors who may want to attend King Tech full-time next year. Sophomores are considered only with a personal interview with the principal.
