What is PLC and How Does it Relate to Our School Mission?

  • Dimond’s Mission Statement is to facilitate optimal learning for all students and to empower them to lead fulfilling and productive lives in a rapidly changing and increasingly complex society.

Each Monday at Dimond High School, a weekly 45-minute block at the beginning of the day has been created for the purpose to provide a Professional Learning Communities (PLC) .This model has allowed teachers consistent opportunities to enhance their practice. Through: teacher-directed professional development, including vertical teaming, cross-curricular collaboration, technology integration, content literacy instruction, and mentoring. During this structured PLC time, instructional support is made available to students by both certified and support staff.

We believe that learning is the chief priority for our school and that all students can be successful. Students learn in different ways and need a variety of instructional approaches to support their learning. Students perform best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.

The weekly PLC time allows the staff at Dimond to engage in professional development that helps facilitate students learning and directly supports our mission.
