ASD would like to recognize our student artist, Claire Kinder.
Claire is a graduating senior from the Dimond High School class of 2025. Her art was selected by the Denali Awards panel to be gifted to this year’s winners. Claire is unable to be with us tonight but has submitted her bio for us to share:
Ever since she could remember, Claire Kinder has been the "artist" of her family. Her passion for creating artwork started in 2017 when she was 11 and her mom put her in art classes after school. She learned many new techniques and looked up to her teacher, hoping someday she could be as talented as her. Claire has worked with oil paint for a little over a year now, and they've become her favorite medium of art. Around the same time, she was teaching herself how to work with oil paint. She was also teaching herself how to ski. She grew a love for both of these things and wanted to incorporate them together. All of her paintings have similar color pallets, but this was her first painting that didn't have a specific reference photo. She took time to study how lighting reflects off mountains and other artists’ techniques, then drew a rough sketch and let herself paint.
Claire said, “I'm so glad and honored that other people enjoy my painting just as much as I do."
