How to do the UAA Writing Sample
Click on the link below and complete the writing sample form. Make sure that you are on a computer with a keyboard, not a phone or a tablet.
IMPORTANT:
You have to complete the writing sample on a computer or laptop where you can check your email. Your phone or your ASD Chromebook will not work.
Click on the UAA Writing Sample – there is a two-hour time limit
-
Complete the survey.
-
Log into your email on your computer.
-
Find the email from UAA with a link to a document to complete the Writing Sample
-
You will need your UAA email address to open the reading document. All UAA emails are:
your UAA username@alaska.edu
Example: Beth Sherwood's UAA username is bmsherwood, so the UAA email address is bmsherwood@alaska.edu
-
The Writing Sample is a reading passage and three questions for your response.
-
Once you have completed composing your answers, review and edit them.
-
When you are happy with your work, close the document.
-
-
Please email me at sherwood_beth@asdk12.org to let me know you submitted the file. I can then request that UAA review your document; otherwise, it may take longer for them to review it.
-
Once you close the tab, Microsoft automatically uploads your essay for the faculty to review, and you can expect to receive a confirmation email within a few hours.
-
Please allow 4-5 business days for your writing sample results to become available to view in UAOnline.
-
Contact hlcox@alaska.edu if you don't receive your results within the expected amount of time, or if you don't receive a confirmation email.
Technology Tips for success:
-
Chrome seems to be the preferred browser for all applications.
-
The UAA IT Department is very helpful. I recommend calling them if you can’t log in.
-
You will need to be able to access your personal email account.
-
On an ASD Chromebook, you should be able to add a new profile to Chrome, using your UAA login credentials, and then you can access your UAA email.
-
Try a non-ASD computer if you are having issues.
-
Do not try to complete placements on a phone.
-
